Boys groped 13-year-old girls then verbally assaulted their parents
Two 13-year-old girls were followed by two boys who tried to talk to them and then groped them.
The girls’ parents went to help them and they were badly treated. Later, two other girls were also groped nearby.
The first incident happened at 6 p.m. Sunday on Princess Avenue in Oakham, which recently suffered a spate of crimes associated with a Christian event last week.
Police said the two boys followed the girls and then “tried to talk to the girls and then touched them inappropriately.”
Police added: “Their parents came to help them and reported that they were then verbally assaulted by the boys as they walked through Princess Drive Park.
“The group left, but shortly thereafter it was reported that two other girls had been inappropriately touched on Princess Avenue.”
A 14-year-old boy from Oakham and a 15-year-old boy from Draycott-in-the-Clay in Staffordshire have been arrested in connection with the incidents and have been released on bail.
Agents are now asking anyone with information about the reports to get in touch.
Detective Constable Sam Bates said: “It was a distressing incident for the girls and their parents.
“It happened in the early evening when a lot of people were probably out.
“We would like to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed the incidents or captured anything relevant on the dash cam.”
