Need money? There’s an app connecting the Atlanta home and pet owners
ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) – Did you know your garden could make money for you? An app called Sniffspot connects owners and pet owners in what’s called the “AirBnB for Dogs.”
“This crazy idea was born in 2017,” said Sniffspot founder David Adams. “My girlfriend at the time, now a wife, was traveling with her dog, Toshi, and she was having a crazy time taking care of his basic needs. She texted me and said, ‘I wish there was an app where I could just find places to let Toshi go.”
The app matches dog owners with compatible backyard rentals to provide a safe space for pets.
“There are interior spaces, there are large fields, there are forests. We have spaces that are hundreds of acres. There are spaces on the waterfront, we have spaces that are hubs of agility,” Adams explained.
The app offers over 8,000 listings in 1,700 cities around the world, with the average booking costing a customer around $9-15 per hour.
“Sniffspot is probably the easiest side business you can imagine. Just let people use your garden,” Adams said. “We have hosts making over $3,000 a month doing this.”
More than extra income, Adams says it’s the ability to bring joy to dogs by taking seldom-used possessions and doing something with them that brings satisfaction to both guest and owner. ‘host.
But what about security?
“From the very beginning, we built security into this and it starts with the two-way review system where for every visit both sides are reviewed and we ask very detailed questions,” Adams explained.
Other security measures include canine vaccine verification, secure payment and messaging, and damage and liability protection.
