All eyes are on Tokyo for the Summer Olympics, but locally in New Hampshire, the Olympics have gone to the dogs. The NH Dog Walking Club – which brings dogs and their people together for exercise, education and socialization in a positive, welcoming and fun environment – is hosting its first annual Doggy Olympics fundraiser from July 23 to August 16, including including the opening and closing ceremonies.
These Dog Olympics will give doggies of all shapes, sizes and abilities the chance to try new things, learn additional skills and achieve personal goals. The event offers physical and mental events for attendees with pets. Physical competitions include dockside diving, water fun competition, obstacle courses and field games, dog fitness and bubble catching. Mental challenges include howl competitions, longest sitting position, treat toss, longest tail, ice cream tasting competition, talent show / best trick, sensory explorers, and more.
Events will take place at various locations within the NH Seacoast, including the Fox Run Mall, Friendly Pets Dog Park, and K9 Kaos. Puppies can participate in group events as well as individual activities for dogs who need a little more space.
Pet professionals from local businesses – dog trainers, pet photographers, canine fitness experts, animal communicators, vets, and more. – organize and judge different competitions. Participating puppies will compete for awards in each event as well as gold, silver and bronze medals.
Expert members who deliver the events include training and services for you and your dog, Miss Behavior Training, Canine Strong, Barrington Barks & Behavior, Jody Crotty Soul Level Animal Communicator, Pet Supplies Plus – Somersworth, NH location, Friendly Pets, Lee, NH location, and Sit.Stay.Smile. Pet photography. Sandra McCarthy Photography will be on hand at many events, and her professional digital images will be available for sale after the Doggy Olympics ends. All funds from Sandra’s photo sales will be donated to the Charitable Partner Program.
The cost to participate in five activities is $ 35 / dog. (Club members save $ 10 / ticket with a special discount code.) Additional activities may be added at a reduced price. The dockside dive competition with Seacoast Dock Dogs costs an additional $ 25.
Proceeds from this event will be donated to the organization’s Charitable Partner Program, which this year supports Mary’s Dogs, Hero Pups and Live and Let Live Farm. The Doggy Olympics will be a great visual / photo opportunity for the media.
