The K9 Cafe, which accepts dogs in Washington, offers pets the opportunity to visit Santa Claus with a unique “Panta Paws” experience
K9 Cafe in Concord was taken over by Washington sisters Layla Lowery and Kerry O’hair in 2020, welcoming dog lovers and their pets for a warm and welcoming place to eat and drink.
Now the cafe is gearing up to provide a unique festive experience for dogs and their owners, as Santa Paws will be visiting the cafe throughout December.
The cafe will open a Santa Claus cave in its backyard, and pet owners can watch their four-legged friends take photos with Santa Paws, while enjoying afternoon tea for themselves.
Layla’s husband Steve Lowery will be wearing the Santa Paws costume and is excited to spread some festive cheer.
He said: “We had a Santa Paws event last year to try and laugh during Covid and we thought if we could bring in 10 or 15 people that would be great. We ended up having over 100 people and their dogs came throughout the month and people seemed to love it.
“It’s a really fun thing to do and the photo makes a lovely memory. Dogs will be given a special bag of treats and afternoon tea will also be available. It’s great being Santa Paws, it was a little intimidating last year but it was a lot of fun and I can’t wait to do it again, it’s a great community event.
Photos taken with Santa Paws are imposed on festive backgrounds that can be taken home as a keepsake.
After taking over, Layla and Kerry spent months making their own mark on the business, renovating the cafe, expanding its offering and adding more outdoor seating.
The Santa Paws Cave will be held at Café K9 in Spout Lane on Saturday, December 4, and then every Saturday from December until Christmas.
